Privacy notice

This notice describes the data used by the current TapStory web service. Updated 27 October 2026.

Card links provide public listening access

Anyone who has a card link can view its note/photo and play its recordings without signing in, including the displayed author nickname, avatar and recording time. Family membership is not a privacy barrier for that link. Share only recordings and images you are entitled to share, and avoid sensitive private information.

Information used to provide the service

Account identifiers, sign-in provider, email where provided, nickname and avatar support authentication and profiles. Family membership, invitations, applications and approval history support access decisions. Card details, uploaded recordings and photos are stored on the service and its object storage to support playback. Subscription, payer and order references support billing and family access.

Microphone and image access

Microphone access is requested when you start recording. A recording is held in the current page until you submit it, and an unsaved recording can be lost when you leave. Selecting an image uploads it to the service for processing and storage. Display images are regenerated without the original EXIF metadata. Removing an image reference does not promise immediate physical deletion of all stored copies.

Payment, login and support providers

Card details are entered in Stripe’s payment interface; TapStory uses the resulting payment and subscription references. Google sign-in, where enabled, uses Google’s identity service. Questions entered in automated chat are sent to Typebot. Support forms send your contact details, message and optional billing information or screenshot to the support service, which may send a receipt and an internal notification. Do not include passwords or full card numbers.

Browser storage and operational records

The browser stores the current login token in session storage and your chosen language in local storage. Service and infrastructure logs may contain request information needed to operate and troubleshoot the service. Signing out clears the TapStory session token; clearing browser storage removes the saved language preference.

Your choices and requests

You can update your nickname/avatar and delete your own recordings. Leaving a family does not delete its cards, recordings, application history or your subscription. Use Support for account, access, correction or deletion requests; identity and applicable retention requirements must be checked before action. A submitted request is not a completed deletion. Family creation and card assignment remain subject to the rules described in the terms.

Retention and access

Stored data is used for the service, support and billing records. This preview does not promise a fixed retention period or immediate erasure from backups and object storage. Account and approval operations require the relevant permissions; public card links remain publicly playable as described above.
